so are you using classes now?
AS3 + flashdevelop can help you produce some really powerful stuff, stick with it.

Yup. Still trying to get my head around it and actually UNDERTAND what I'm coding. I'm sitting here typing 'n I'm all like "why am I importing this? extends movieclip? e:Event, why the e:?"
I've been reading over some AS3 stuff briefly for the past week or so, but the last few hours I've been following this guys tutorial
http://asgamer.com/2009/flash-gam e-design-basics-adding-library-ob jects-to-stage-with-as3

Wow, i played 5 min of this, and i think this could be your best work. Keep workin on it, it has HUGE potential, and it can become a masterpiece.

I really hope it does. If I can just get motivated again I can let the creativity flow and create something fantastic, rather than dragging myself through the process and ending up with a disappointing experience.

I played the demo. I did like the graphics. One thing that bothered me is after every hit the monsters sorda faded away, the same thing that happens when they died. it was hard to tell if i killed it or not. Also the portal at the end of the stages were somewhat hard to see for me. There were no mid air attacks which i assume will be added. I enjoyed it though

Hmm I agree, the enemys do die rather oddly. I will try and fix this so if they have 0 health, they wont get up then die.

Dude we cant even keep the key up for over a second, we can't even get past the first gate...

gameplay needs work,
right now to fight enemies all you have to do is spam
a, a , down + a

rinse and repeat

other then that I like the concept

It looks great!, but some parts it lags and there is only 2 sections?
like I am meaning at the next part, there were no key.

Read this, it taught me pretty much everything I know about AS3
One thing the book won't tell you is that it's important to use weak references when you create an event listener, example

addEventListener("enterFrame", runtime, false, 0, true);
.....................................
.....................................
.................. ^ this

Good luck

Yippee, NG's "no long strings" code fucking up a message again.
Basically what is important in the line of code I gave you is the last parameter, "true", which is by default set to false

I say Daniel Sun, Taking AS3 class with Flash could be harder than you think.

I found an error in the second area, when using the eagle to open the locked door at the very end, when I accelerated and hit the wall, the eagle went through the wall and outside of the white boundaries of the game screen. I could not move the eagle out of this, and had to call the eagle back to me.
Otherwise, I enjoyed the demo very much, though I do miss the black color palette, I like the sort of autumn-esque scenery. The eagle looks great, and I like having the combo finisher attack. I would continue to play it. I think that aerial combos should be added.

I found a bug where if (on level 2) if you turn into a bird and fly up above the door to the gears and such, if you fly in between the first gear and second gear you get teleported ouside the edge of the map, doesn't happen 100% of the time, but i made it happen a few times. other than that game seems awsome!

The game is fun, the graphics are awesome, but the controls.... well needs more work but other than that it was really one of the best game you ever made

Hey, who did the music in your games, if you dont mind asking? Did you do it yourself, it's pretty cool

I don't know, but your games always seem very "unprecise" in moving, I hink that comes from the extreme decelerating if you let go a key, it would be way more forceful if you only added a short but powerful "stopping" animation.

Well, add the ability to attack while jumping, make sure that you can finish a sword combo the same way you can finish a melee combo (you know, an attack that sends the enemy flying)

overall
It's a pretty good game

DAMN!!! That demo is really good. way better then red moon.

Dude, that's awesome! I really look forward to seeing this finished. I hope you can find the motivation to finish this.

I tried to learn as3 without knowning anything on As2. and i gaved up :(
Im gonna learn as2 first then move on to as3

its not turd, it is freaking amazing. i kinda miss the black and white graphics, but i guess i can still play shift or one of your old games if i need my fix. the game is great, and the different character shape from the original has me wondering what is gonna happen this time. if your pay doesn't bring motivation, at least let yor fans motivate you. go d-sun go!

WOW!!!!
I dont understand how you could say that that game is boring or disappointing.
This game (or series of games) is a MAJOR piece of art and criativity!!! Its just awesome. I hope you dont give up on the project, it has a GREAT ( I mean REALLY great) potential.
But if you dont feel like doing it or just aren't motivated enough just let it go.
Cheers to you and Good Luck!!

Adding to what Karshgen said, I also think that the Hero, as well as the monsters, should have multiple death animations.

The music was good, the graphics were just gorgeous.

Maybe you should add multiple ground combos depending on direction of arrow keys.

I'm also guessing that there will be multiple weapons, based on the icon of the fist in the corner.

Overall, this looks like it will be as good as the others.
